![]() When she was released back in September of 2015, Tirpitz was a monster. On the second day of Christmas, Sub_Octavian sent to me. I resent "fear of missing out" as a sales tactic and I'm not advocating that you panic buy this ship if she does not interest you, but if she was on your list of ships to get, now's the time. It's a shame that she's being retired with patch 0.10.1. She's not only fun and powerful, her gimmicks went on to inspire hope of seeing an entire tech tree line based on her performance. Massachusetts is arguably one of the best premiums that Wargaming has ever made. On the first day of Christmas, Sub_Octavian sent to me. To that end, I present to you, the Twelve of Christmas. Still, I thought I could throw something together that's fun while also speaking to the current performance of said ships. While I would love to use their releases as an excuse to update some of my older reviews, it's just not realistic. That's nine more ships than the previous front-runner of thirty-six releases, way back in 2016.Īs has been custom for Wargaming since 2018, Black Friday sees the release of four new clone ships with sexy black and chrome camouflage schemes. As of Black Friday this year, there are now forty-three (43!) premium and reward ships that have been released and we know of at least two others due out before the end of the year. There has been so much content, so many releases and so many events, it's been genuinely hard for me to keep track. 2020 has been one Hell of a ride for the game, even if you ignore the pandemic. Even with the inevitable accelerated release schedule that comes this time of year, I feel ready. Heck, I'm even finding myself excited for some of the upcoming releases Wargaming has announced for this holiday season. I'm able to genuinely enjoy the season again, mostly thanks to being able to play super-auntie. I deleted said draft and now I'm feeling all better. My first draft of this was chock-full of grumpy holiday resentment. I am not going to be negative snark-monster this year. Please be aware that their performance may change in the future. To the best of my knowledge, the statistics discussed here are accurate as of patch 0.9.10. Access to all eight of these ships was provided to me by Wargaming at no cost to myself. Yeah, I could see people justifiably wanting her for that if they were a fan.The following are a series of quick reviews of the Black Friday ships. The Makoto Kobayashi camouflage adds a fun collector's element to this ship. If you enjoy ship history or possessing rare ships, this section is for you. For the money, you could take Kii or Mutsu - one being cheaper and the other arguably more effective against everything within her matchmaking spread.Ĭompetitive Gaming includes Ranked Battles and other skill-based tournaments. This includes training captains, collecting free experience, earning credits and collecting signal flags from achievements. In the close-range encounters typically found in Co-Op and Operations, Ashitaka thrives. ![]() How well does the ship maintain profitability in Co-Op modes and how does she fare against bots? Missouri still wins out, but Ashitaka will make bank for those looking for a credit earning ship. With this camouflage, she joins the ranks of Kii, Prinz Eugen and Missouri as an incredibly profitable premium ship. However, it would not be fair to fail to mention the merits. Now, I was reluctant to describe it this way as it prompts players to fork out an additional sum in order to prop up an otherwise flagging premium. Liking one will not guarantee you like the other.Īshitaka "becomes worthwhile" with the Makoto Kobayashi camouflage. They may be related, but they're very different craft. Short of the gun layout and handling, Ashitaka is night and day different from Amagi in terms of overall performance. In both cases, these ships are downtiered in an attempt to balance their poor characteristics compared to their sister ships. Wargaming made plans to return these ships as premiums, with Mutsu representing a modified A-Hull Nagato and Ashitaka representing Amagi. Indeed, their designs were quite recognizable. Some players lamented that it was a shame to lose the distinct models. These ships were horrible to grind while stock - not only did they have poor anti-aircraft armaments and long rudder shift times like other stock vessels, they were also forced to use guns with worse penetration values. Now they would only need to research a single hull to upgrade their vessel. Their stock hull was being removed from the game. Back in January of 2017, Amagi and Nagato received a significant quality of life buff.
